Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Daisy Ridley, Rey

We're quickly approaching the first anniversary of the release of STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, which brought the nine-film Skywalker Saga to an end, but as we know, STAR WARS will never really end. There are plenty of new STAR WARS movies in development from folks such as Rian Johnson, Kevin Feige, Taika Waititi, J.D. Dillard, and more; not to mention the TV shows that are in development for the Disney+ streaming service.

It's easy to imagine that any of those projects could see the return of existing STAR WARS characters, but if you were holding out hope for more of Daisy Ridley as Rey, you might not want to hold your breath. Ridley recently spoke with IGN following the launch of the CHAOS WALKING trailer, and naturally, the talk soon turned to her possible future in the franchise.

I think for me the beauty of Episode IX is it ends with such hope and such potential. I just feel like that was Rey's perfect ending. The big battle was in Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. I think really she's probably running around the forest somewhere having a great time [following the events of The Rise of Skywalker].

"I feel totally, totally satisfied with how that story finished," Ridley added. "I just don't know what else she could do that I didn't have to do. Also, there are so many amazing characters in Star Wars, that it's sort of an amazing thing. I was watching the new episode of Mandalorian, and it's just like the places it can go beyond even where it is now is so exciting." As THE RISE OF SKYWALKER came to a conclusion with Rey having defeated the resurrected Emperor (Ian McDiarmid) and the Final Order, you can certainly understand why Ridley feels Rey's story has finished. Daisy Ridley will next be seen in CHAOS WALKING alongside Tom Holland on January 22, 2021.
