Star Wars: The Last Jedi footage details have forced their way online

Geez, it must be nice to be a Walt Disney Company shareholder, especially when one of the job's perks is getting an invitation to attend a special screening of footage from the forthcoming release of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. The clip picks up from the final moments of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS in which Rey (Daisy Ridley) hands Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) his lightsaber. The LA TImes is reporting that, in the clip, Luke grabs the weapon from Rey and asks, "Who are you?" before taking the iconic light sword back into his possession. Following this scene, more footage was revealed, including a clip involving Chewbacca, General Leia Organa, and Finn, a multitude of intergalactic vistas, and a clip of "an X-Wing wobbling in mid-air, under attack inside a giant ship."

Following the presentation, Walt Disney Co's chairman and chief executive, Bob Iger, took a moment to address the passing of Carrie Fisher by saying, "Carrie Fisher has been an iconic part in this franchise from the very beginning," he said. "We all miss her. She has great talent and wit. We’re proud that this movie coming up is part of her legacy." He then baited the audience with the words, "So all you "Who's Rey's father?" Heh, Bob Iger knows something, and I'm going to be the one to get it out of him. You'll see. You'll all see. I can be very persuasive.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI will land in theaters on December 15, 2017.
