But to be completely fair I wouldn’t consider GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE to be that highly anticipated… BATMAN 3 and MEN IN BLACK 3D on the other hand… very highly anticipated. Wouldn’t you agree? … Of course you would! So it’s with that in mind that I’m coming your way today with the start dates for all three films, courtesy of Superhero Hype. Ready for the goods? Check it!
According to the site Christopher Nolan and company will be kicking off production on BATMAN 3 starting April 2011 in New Orleans. In other news, MEN IN BLACK 3D will kick off on October 18th in New York with plans to shoot through May 2011. And lastly GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE will start filming next month in Romania and Turkey. But we actually already knew that didn’t we… Excited? Damn right you are!
The plot will center on Jay as he’s sent back to 1969 in order to aid a 26 year old Kay in a battle to save the Earth against Yaz, who travels back in time to kill Kay and destory the world. The film’s sole villain, a badass biker named Yaz, is described as ‘a nightmare biker who looks like Dennis Hopper and Satan. He’s not meant to be particularly funny and the movie is careful to describe him as oozing badassery and violence out of every pore.’ Celebrities ‘outed’ to be aliens on this go around include Yoko Ono, Jimi Hendrix, Castro, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Andy Warhol, who actually has an extended cameo in the film.
MEN IN BLACK 3D is coming at us from director Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Rip Torn, Emma Thompson and Jemaine Clement. It’s already got a release date of May 25th, 2012.
The story sees Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider, hiding out in remote Eastern Europe and struggling to repress his curse. Blaze is recruited by a sect to take on the devil, who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the kid’s birthday.
GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE is set to star Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba, Johnny Whitworth, Ciaran Hinds and Violante Placido (below). It’s heading our way courtesy of action junkies Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor with a February 17, 2012 release date.
