Why so far out? What’s the deal? I guess they’re just planning ahead and not rushing things, which I can respect, plus they’re marking their territory early, as nothing else has been announced for October 2009, so really, it has no competition. Sure, a SAW VI will likely happen, as well as a buttload of other scare flicks, but as of right now… THE STEPFATHER is all we got for October 2009!
And if they decide to bitch out on us and go PG-13, it’s probably a pretty smart move. Sure, I say f*ck PG-13 horror, but it’s smart for a studio to release one if they’re going up against the R rated horror juggernaut that is the SAW franchise. A PG-13 option against an R rated one? I ain’t saying I like, but I am saying it’s smart.
