Stephanie Beatriz joins Anthony Mackie in Twisted Metal series

Stephanie Beatriz will be leaving the streets of Brooklyn and magical Columbian villages behind as she will star alongside Anthony Mackie in Peacock’s live-action adaptation of the Twisted Metal video game franchise.

Based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the Twisted Metal series will be a half-hour, high-octane action-comedy about a “motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.” Stephanie Beatriz will play Quiet, “a ferocious, badass car thief who acts purely on instinct – you couldn’t stop her any more than a manhole could stop a volcano. Coming from a community that oppressed her into silence, Quiet’s wish is to find her place in this dark, chaotic world. But when she becomes clouded by her need for revenge, Quiet forms an unlikely, antagonistic bond with John Doe.” Anthony Mackie will star as John Doe, “a smart-ass milkman who talks as fast as he drives. With no memory of his past, John gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true, but only if he can survive an onslaught of savage vehicular combat.

The Twisted Metal series will be written and executive produced by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai), who also serves as showrunner. Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) will direct multiple episodes of the series and will also executive produce alongside Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Michael Jonathan Smith, Anthony Mackie, Will Arnett, Marc Forman, Jason Spire, Peter Principato, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Herman Hulst. Stephanie Beatriz is best known for playing Detective Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and voicing Mirabel in Disney’s Encanto, and before heading to the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Twisted Metal, she’ll be part of The Bob’s Burgers Movie on May 27th.
