Stephen King’s Eyes of the Dragon getting a Syfy adaptation

One of the puny number of Stephen King novels that hasn’t yet received a screen adaptation is finally about to get one…

According to Entertainment Weekly, Syfy is developing the 1987 fantasy novel EYES OF THE DRAGON as a “longform project.” Michael Taylor (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Jeff Vintar (I, ROBOT) are writing the screenplay, while Taylor and Bill Haber executive produce. A director has not been announced.

The book’s synopsis:
Once upon a time, in the Kingdom of Delain, King Roland is murdered and his son and heir, Peter, is framed for the crime. Peter and his loyal friends must battle an evil wizard and Peter’s usurper brother, Thomas, for the throne. Imprisoned in a tower, Peter conceives an escape plan that will take him years to execute before taking on Flagg, the powerful sorcerer who has masterminded this coup.

Any loyal Stephen King fan will certainly recognize a couple of those names.

To be perfectly honest, however, this is one of the few King books that I’m wholly unfamiliar with. Maybe now is a good time to change that…
