According to Variety, Steve Carr, the dude who directed DADDY DAYCARE, DR. DOOLITTLE 2, and PAUL BLART: MALL COP, has his eye on a supernatural comedy next, one that’s based on a graphic novel from Platinum Studios called MEET THE HAUNTEDS.
Yes, you read that right. MEET THE HAUNTEDS, as in a play on MEET THE FOCKERS. Sigh. A few years back NBC optioned the graphic novel to be developed as a weekly sitcom, but luckily nothing ever came of it and now it’s ready for the big screen treatment.
So what the shit is MEET THE HAUNTEDS? Funny you should ask… [The film] focuses on a family who relocates to Harlem only to discover their home is haunted by an African-American family that has been there since the 1970s and has no idea how much the world has changed.
Doesn’t that shit sound hilarious? A real knee slapper, if you ask me. Considering Carr’s background and pull, I’m guessing Eddie Murphy will want in on this shit once it rolls into production. Think of it like a loose sequel to THE HAUNTED MANSION…
I’m obviously not the target audience with this one, so I could give a flying f*ck about this movie, but who knows… maybe it’s a bit more hardcore than it sounds. Like maybe they were a family in the 70s like the Myers or the Voorhees families. Then it might be kinda cool. Maybe.
Stick around for more on MEET THE HAUNTEDS as we hear it!
