I love Steven Spielberg’s JURASSIC PARK. Everything about that movie seems amazing to me. The action, the horror, the emotion… it just comes off as nearly perfect. So when there’s rumblings of Mr. Spielberg returning to the world of dinosaurs you can bet your ass I’m there!
Now let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. First let me point out that Spielberg won’t be directing anything… just producing. Bummer, but we can work with that. You see according to Variety Fox Broadcasting are gearing up to bring us TERRA NOVA, a drama series that’ll follow a family from 100 years in the future who travel back in time 150 million years to the strange and inhospitable environs of prehistoric Earth. Sort of LAND OF THE LOSTish isn’t it? Whatever, I love me some dinos so bring it on!
The screenwriting duo of Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel are the two bringing us TERRA NOVA along with 20th Century Fox, who’re currently looking to make a deal that’ll bring Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin along for the ride as executive producers. Other name’s that’ll be attached in some producing capacity include Silverstein, Marcel, Aaron Kaplan, Chernin Entertainment’s Katherine Pope and DreamWorks TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
Mind you no deals are done just yet. These are just all ramblings for now but I’m sure the chances are good considering this is coming from Variety. TERRA NOVA ‘would involve such elaborate sets and vfx that there’s been talk of greenlighting it directly to series production rather than a pilot because it would be too expensive to shut down and start up again during the downtime between pilot and episodic production.’ That’s highly intriguing… and quite impressive. After TERRA NOVA figures out who it’s producers are going to be Fox are planning on shopping it out.
Anyone else seeing the potential here or is it just me? Shall we just bank on JURASSIC PARK IV then? Hit us with your opinions below and be sure to keep it here for more on this prehistoric project as we hear it!
