Well PUNISHER: WAR ZONE hit theaters yesterday and it looks like star Ray Stevenson is already moving on to promoting his next movie. Crave Online recently spoke to The Punisher about his newest rampage. They really dug deep, asking Stevenson about his history with comics and his upcoming film THE BOOK OF ELI. Eventually the interview turned to the vampire circus movie CIRQUE DU FREAK.
Now we’ve been keeping you updated on CIRQUE DU FREAK since it was announced, but the last update came all the way back at the beginning of July. That’s a long ass time. So what’s been going on? Well Stevenson doesn’t really give much, just basically that the movie is finished. Here’s a bit on what he had to say about his character:
“Murlough and he’s a vampinese so he’s again on the dark side of the vampires. ”
Head right over here to read up a bit more on what he had to say.
Along with Stevenson, FREAK stars funnyman John C. Reilly (Green Team!) as the main vampire. It also stars Willem Dafoe, Chris Kelly, Ken Watanabe, Chris Massoglia, Josh Hutcherson, Patrick Fugit, Michael Cerveris, Frankie Faison, Jane Krakowski, Orlando Jones, Kristen Schaal, and Salma Hayek (below) in a beard. Yes, Salma Hayek… in a beard… and she’s still hot! I’m sold.
FREAK is about a young boy named Darren Shan, who, after attending an illegal freak show with his best friend, decides to become a vampire’s assistant in order to save his best friend’s life. Forced to leave his home and family forever, Darren joins the freak show where he meets a host of bizarre creatures and finds himself at the center of a war between the vampires and a rival clan.
It’s based off Darren Shan’s series of children’s novels. Paul Weitz is directing with a script from Brian Helgeland. No telling when this one will hit theaters, so keep it here for any updates.
