Stiles’ directorial bow

JoBloJoBlo

I’m not Julia Stile’s biggest fan. I’m just going to put that out there. I don’t particularly dislike her for any reason, she just doesn’t do anything for me. That said, Stiles (O) has been working on her directorial debut, a short film called RAVING, starring the lovely Zooey Deschanel (THE HITCHHIKER’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY) and Bill Irvin.

The film is about a chance meeting on a New York street corner between Deschanel’s character – a rebellious young woman – and Irvin’s out of sorts middle-aged man. Usually I would avoid a story like this like a rabid dog, but I actually think the trailer looks pretty good. I especially like the ending. It’s not Scarlett Johansson singing “Brass in Pocket” but it’s still a pretty nice scene, and beautifully shot.

Check it out here.
