I will never forget seeing the trailer for STOP LOSS, because it was a landmark moment in my life. I somehow managed to hate it before the Paramount logo even faded out two seconds in because whoever crafted it decided Drowning Pool’s “Let The Bodies Hit The Floor” would be an awesome way to start. I didn’t really like when the song was put on those RAMBO TV-spots, but at least he was mashing people up. Fortunately though, after that song fades out, it starts to look like it might be really great. You can check that out here:
The film is about a decorated Iraqi war hero Sgt. Brandon King (Phillippe), who returns to his small Texas hometown, trying to resume the life he had before he left with the help of his family and best friend Steve Shriver (Tatum). However, soon Brandon discovers that the Army has ordered him back to Iraq thanks to a rule called “Stop Loss” that extends his enlistment indefinitely. Brandon, with the help of Steve’s fiancee Michele (Cornish), decides that the only way out is to become a fugitive.
