Anybody who has listened to director David Fincher or knows enough about him are aware that this man has no time or desire to participate in what we like to call the “production featurettes” or “behind-the-scenes exclusives” much like Peter Jackson and many others are accustomed too.
It’s understandable as I’d rather the audience know/see nothing before they get to see the film and to have no insight as to what they should expect. The man is a genius no doubt and that genius sometimes demands a certain level of privacy and trust from the audience that very few other directors have earned. However with all that said, today brings about something that just might throw all of that away.
Earlier this morning, /Film received word that there was a special website that has been up for a couple weeks called Mouth-Taped-Shut on the Tumblr blog network.
Within this special blog appear to be behind-the scenes footage and photographs of several closed sets for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO which premieres later this year. There’s no flashy music, quick cuts or dialogue in these set clips but very simple footage such as David Fincher watching his monitors while a scene plays out with Daniel Craig. It’s incredible footage to watch but strange as this doesn’t appear to be an “official” blog or release from Sony Pictures but rather someone on the production team looking to give us a peak into the intriguing look at what was happening on-set. Pretty cool shit for sure.
So be sure to check out the special blog for the film which has a bunch of cool BTS clips and photos (one of the clips can actually be seen below) from the set and watch for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO when it hits theaters on December 21.
