Strangers director Bryan Bertino penning serial killing robot tale Abe

A little over a year ago, we brought you a short film called ABE, which was making a big buzz around town. The disturbing short focused on an inquisitive robot who just happens to be a murderer. (He’s got his reasons.) A few months later, the news rolled in that MGM had purchased the rights to ABE, intending on making a feature film out of it. Well sir, that time is now.

Bryan Bertino, best known as the writer-director behind THE STRANGERS, has been hired to adapt ABE into a full-length film. Rob McLellan, who made the original, is still in line to direct. Obviously, MGM thought he needed a bit of help. (He was signed to both write and direct back in August.)

Per Deadline, Jonathan Glickman and Cassidy Lange will oversee for MGM and Andy Berman and Kevin Chang will oversee for Misher Films, which produced CARRIE for MGM and Screen Gems and is prepping a reboot of THE CROW for Relativity.

Watch ABE below.
