Substitute remake

When I read The Arrow’s review of THE SUBSTITUTE, I knew I had to check it out–it sounded just too awesome of a movie to pass up. While I haven’t seen it yet, I plan on picking it up on DVD when it hits shelves everywhere next month.

So color me surprised to hear that the Arrow was not the only one who thought this movie rocked, as The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Columbia’s Mandate Pictures liked the flick so much they decided to scoop up the remake rights to the damn thing. Remake? Already? The original film hasn’t even come out yet!

Mandate’s Ghost House Pictures is the company that’s actually in-charge of this remake, so if you’re gonna curse at somebody–curse at them! Understandably, the original is not in English–but is that really a reason to remake it? As far as I could tell, the flick’s awesome on its own. Then again, in this state of remake infatuation, this move really shouldn’t surprise me… not one bit.

Stick around on the juicy details on this completely unnecessary remake (like director, cast, etc…), and be sure to pick up the original SUBSTITUTE when it hits DVD October 14th (from Ghost House Underground, no less).
