Hey all, the summer movie season will be upon us soon and I figured I’d whip up a horror summer preview piece for yall. But then i checked around and figured out the hard way that our beloved genre will be on the low jive this summer. So instead I decided to share with ya, my personal TOP 6 MOST ANTICIPATED FLICK OF SUMMER 2010, horror and non horror. So here ya go! Of course feel free to tell us below which films has your fanboy clit vibrating the most this summer!
6- JONAH HEX

Starring: Megan Fox,

WHY: Lets see, a Western (I love Westerns man…one of my fav subgenres), written by the CRANK bad boys (Neveldine and Taylor) having to do with a scarred bounty hunter fighting off the undead? Sold right there! Hot piece Megan Fox and cool dude Josh Brolin in the mix? A bonus! And the trailer is pretty dope. I’m in!

Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt
WHY: Nolan is one of this decade’s most exciting directors, the cast is strong, the teaser tantalizing, the visuals are nuts and I also have no idea what this movie is about and I like it that way! I won’t even read the recently released synopsis…f*ck…that… noise! Looks like it can be this summer’s THE MATRIX and I’m not just saying that cause of the nifty imagery.
4- SALT

Starring: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber
WHY: Angelina Jolie has ass kicker written all over her but there has yet to be a movie that capitalizes on that endearing trait fully thus far, and no them crappy TOMB RAIDER movies don’t count. So consider me mucho jazzed for SALT, a flick that if I go by the trailer(s), seems to do it plot and action wise and that’s directed by ace Phillip “we missed ya bra” Noyce (Dead Calm) no less. IM SO THERE! If a hit, this may give Angelina her very own BOURNE franchise. I’m rooting for ya babes!

3- PIRANHA 3D

WHY: Gore hound and loving it Alexandre Aja has yet to direct a film I didn’t love and this one shows promise. A slick “man eating fish on a rampage” premise, lots of gore, ample TNA, a sick sense of humor and all of it in whacky 3D at that! This sick puppy has the potential to be this summer must see HORROR ROLLERCOASTER RIDE!
2- THE EXPENDABLES

Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li
WHY: An old school, 80’s vibed action film that stars men among men Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Eric Roberts, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li, Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren. Not enough for ya? And it’s directed by Sly “he rocked my world with RAMBO 4” Stallone. Any questions?

WHY: I’ve been jonesing for a PREDATOR 3 since the end credits of PREDATOR 2 rolled and no the two AVP movies didn’t fill that empty spot that’s been in my soul for so long! So my money is on producer Rodriguez and director Nimrod Anatal to give me what I’ve been waiting for since 1990 – a badass, gory, WELL WRITTEN flick showcasing one of the best monsters in genre history doing what he does best – hunting humans with flair and gnarly weapons. To say I’m pumped for this one would be an understatement.
IT’S SUMMER BABY!!!!! BRING IT ON!
