Sundance surprise Escape from Tomorrow gets bloody new poster, release date

Truth be told, I'm seriously surprised that Randy Moore's ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW will be seeing a release, but I'm excited that it is. I've been stoked to see what the fuss is all about.

If this one slipped under your rader, here's the Cliff Notes version of the dealio: ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW is a film about a a man having increasingly disturbing experiences and visions during the last day of a family vacation to the Walt Disney World theme park. The film was shot 'guerilla style' on location at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland without permission from The Walt Disney Company, and after principal photography was complete, Moore was so determined to keep the project a secret from Disney that he edited it in South Korea. There was a lot of speculation that Disney would take legal action to prevent the film from being shown outside of Sundance, but now the film is scheduled for a release in theaters day-and-date with VOD on October 11, so unless Disney decides to file a suit to block it from happening, it looks like we'll finally get to check out ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW next month. We'll see.

The film stars Roy Abramsohn, Elena Schuber, and Katelynn Rodriguez and has the following synopsis:

An epic battle begins when a middle-aged American husband and father of two learns that he has lost his job. Keeping the news from his nagging wife and wound-up children, he packs up the family and embarks on a full day of park hopping amid enchanted castles and fairytale princesses.

Soon, the manufactured mirth of the fantasy land around him begins to haunt his subconscious. An idyllic family vacation quickly unravels into a surrealist nightmare of paranoid visions, bizarre encounters, and an obsessive pursuit of a pair of sexy teenage Parisians.

Below you will find the poster for ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW. When I first saw it my thoughts ran from "What the f***? There's no way Disney is gonna let this one go!" to "This is f'n awesome!". The hand…the font…everything about this poster seems to be begging for trouble from Disney's lawyers. I'm wondering what, if any, action the House of Mouse will take.

ESCAPE FROM TOMORROW hits limited theaters and VOD on October 11 2013.
