Super Troopers sequel may start filming later this year

SUPER TROOPERS was released in 2001 and rumors of a sequel have followed it ever since. I swear every year there’s two or three news articles with a quote from some member of Broken Lizard saying the script was done or how they are still interesting in slapping on their Vermont State Trooper badges. It’s almost as bad as the GHOSTBUSTERS 3 talks.

But it looks like it may finally be happening. Guy Speak spoke to Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, who are out promoting their new stand-up special “Fat Man Little Man,” and naturally SUPER TROOPERS 2 was brought up. When asked directly, “Will there be a SUPER TROOPERS sequel?” Kevin Heffernan responded:

There will be a Super Troopers sequel. We put it off for a while and then came back to it. We wrote the script and handed it in to Fox and now we’re just negotiating the time and the place and hopefully shoot it some time this year. I have to start growing my mustache now.

Right meow you say?

Broken Lizard movies can be a little hit-or-miss and maybe the time has passed for a sequel, but I’d still be willing to give it a shot. They have teased fans for years about a sequel, but if Kevin Heffernan is really growing his mustache out, then I think we’re damn close to SUPER TROOPERS 2 actually happening.

If SUPER TROOPERS 2 does start filming this year there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing it sometime in 2014.
