Surprise! Hulu has released the fourth season of Veronica Mars early

A fourth season of Veronica Mars, the cult favourite TV series which starred Kristen Bell as a student who moonlighted as a private investigator under the tutelage of her detective father, has been underway for a number of years and was slated to debut on Hulu on July 26th, but that's no longer the case.

At the close of the Veronica Mars panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Kristen Bell announced that the entirety of season four of Veronica Mars is online right now! So, if you're a Veronica Mars super-fan who's been anxiously awaiting the new season, here you go! The eight-episode season finds Spring Breakers getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town's lifeblood tourist industry. "After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica (Bell) is drawn into an epic mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach." Bell has previously teased that the fourth season would be a little different from what you remember, saying, "It’s gonna be a much darker world, it’s going to be a bigger world, it’s definitely not what we did on UPN or The CW, so I want to brace fans for that, that it’s going to be darker and bigger and more cinematic, a little bit different."

In addition to Kristen Bell, a number of Veronica Mars regulars are also onboard for the new season, including Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Ryan Hansen, Max Greenfield, Ken Marino, and more. They'll be joined by Veronica Mars newbies Patton Oswalt, Clifton Collins Jr., J.K. Simmons, and Mary McDonnell.
