So what do you do if you’ve just won your second Academy Award? Do you
go to Disneyland? Do you hit up Las Vegas for a week of binge drinking
and money blowing? Well, if you’re Hilary Swank, you decide to star in
a horror movie.
According to , Swank is in final
negotiations to star in THE REAPING, for Warner Bros. and Dark Castle
Entertainment. Directed by James Cox (WONDERLAND), and written by the boys who
wrote HOUSE OF WAX (Chad & Carey Hayes), THE REAPING is about a myth
debunker who travels around Texas investigating occurrences that some claim
to be the 10 Biblical Plagues.
Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis are both on board to produce this
fright flick, and here’s what Silver had to say about landing another
Academy Award winning actress.
“This is exciting for us. She is fantastic, and it’s a great
opportunity to do something special with a really great actress. These higher-end
actresses, like Halle and ‘Gothika’ and Nicole (Kidman) with ‘The
Others,’ they look at these movies and say, let’s see if we can do something
great.”
Let’s just hope Shannon Elizabeth didn’t really see something great
when she read THIRTEEN GHOSTS. The flick sounds pretty cool, and the fact
that it’s somewhat original, and not another remake from the B&W days
of horror makes it a bit more appealing.
And you have to give it to Swank- she picks rolls that she can really
flesh out and win awards by doing, and at the same time she picks rolls
that she can actually have a lot of fun with (let’s not forget she was
in THE CORE). Stay tuned for the more info. on THE REAPING as it draws
nearer production.
