There was some ticked off fans yesterday after my article concerning the possibility HITMAN would be deprived of its bloodletting by Fox – although it wasn’t clear if they were doing it to achieve an R or a PG-13 (its supposedly REALLY nasty business). Now another flick that rumors swirled around regarding its graphic content and its potential watering-down – SWEENEY TODD – is looking like it’s going to give us the goods with an R. “Graphic bloody violence” is the reason cited. (Read this article for some details on the studio’s initial reservations.)
BEOWULF, on the other hand, had many wondering what it would be slapped with – considering it’s supposed to be loaded with a surprising amount of violence and perversity for a flick that would want to hit-up the largest audience possible… Well, its got itself a PG-13 – for “intense sequences of violence including disturbing images, some sexual material and nudity.” Now, I’m not one of those weirdos who digs animated nudity, but in this case it’s Angelina Jolie, so I may change my stance on that (especially when it’s in frickin’ 3D!).
Oh and if you care, Uwe Boll’s DUNGEON SIEGE got hit with a PG-13, although it’s probably not suitable for children – or anybody really.
