UK-based production company Number 9 films is prepping a couple of genre products that sound right up our alley, as Variety has it.
First up is the curiously titled DAN LENO AND THE LIMEHOUSE GOLEM. The story is set against the music halls of Victorian London and follows a Jack-the Ripper-style serial killer nicknamed the Limehouse Golem and the rise and fall of a vaudeville star.
Jane Goldman, the screenwriter of KICK-ASS, is adapting the book of the same name by Peter Ackroyd. No director is yet lined up.
The same can’t be said of Number 9’s other in-development title, BYZANTIUM, which Neil Jordan is currently “in talks” to helm. The flick is about a pair of women who claim to be vampire siblings. The bloodsucking material should be familiar to Jordan, who directed 1994’s INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE.
No start dates have been announced for either project, but we’ll keep you posted when they get revved up.
