So, judging by last week’s numbers, it seems many of you saw Tarsem Singh’s IMMORTALS. How was it?
While I can’t speak critically (although The Arrow can), financially the movie has been successful enough to land Singh a potential new gig. Word from Deadline is he’s attached to a new film called KILLING ON CARNIVAL ROW, scripted by Travis Beacham (CLASH OF THE TITANS, PACIFIC RIM). New line had previously courted Guillermo del Toro and Neil Jordan for the film, but now the studio thinks Singh is their man.
KILLING ON CARNIVAL ROW is described as a fantasy noir, set in New Orleans. The script takes place in the future in a city called the Burgue, which looks a lot like 18th Century London. It is inhabited by humans and other creatures, and a serial killer is on the loose.
Sounds good to me, at least on the surface. Not sure how Singh will handle the material, hopefully not as CG-laden as IMMORTALS. Give us an old fashioned, spooky New Orleans tale Tarsem…we’d all be obliged!
