Tartan Gets Extreme

I’m not the hugest fan of Asian horror flicks. I mean, RINGU was a creepy film for me, but others were just plain bizarre (GUINEA PIG series, anyone?).
Tartan Video has lined up some new horror flicks for its Asia Extreme line, and from the looks of things, I may just have more than just one Asian horror flick to love.

Tartan presents the South Korean-made flicks UNBORN BUT FORGOTTEN (known as HAYANBANG nationally) and
SPIDER FOREST (also known as GEOMI SUP) on DVD Oct. 11 and Oct. 25, respectively. Both will be presented in yummy anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS Surround Sound 5.1, along with Korean, English and Spanish subtitles. Special features for UNBORN include interviews with cast and crew, a “Making Of” featurette, an original theatrical trailer and trailers of Tartan Asia Extreme’s upcoming releases. SPIDER FOREST doesn’t have any special features announced just yet, aside from trailers for other Tartan Asia Extreme releases, but that should change pretty soon.

In SPIDER, a man and woman have been brutally attacked in a cabin secluded in the woods and left to die. Arriving too late, Kang (Gam Woo-sung) chases the killer only to be hit by a speeding car. Barely surviving surgery, Kang now finds himself a prime suspect in the double murder case. While a police investigation sets out to confirm his story, he begins his own quest to remember what happened. As he pieces together the fragments of a bizarre dream, his own nightmares may hold the key to the truth.

In
UNBORN, women who have no apparent relationship to one another begin inexplicably dying 15 days after visiting a mysterious website. Oddly, each woman appears to have given birth before her demise, although friends and family members all vehemently deny that they were pregnant. While filming a documentary on the phenomenon, a reporter (Lee Eun-ju) joins the investigation of Detective Choi (Jeong Jun-ho), which leads to the discovery of a site known only as The White Room. Uncovering the secret has its price, leaving her just 15 days to discover the meaning behind the cryptic website.
