Tartan is moving on up here in North America, it seems.
In a press release by Sundance Channel, beginning April 2nd at midnight, the channel will be host to Asia Extreme, which of course is the same name of Tartan’s label that showcases cutting-edge genre films from Korean, Japan, Hong Kon, Taiwan and Thailand. Sundance secured exclusive U.S. pay TV rights for 8 films from Tartan’s library, and will be the cornerstone of Sundance Channel’s new Sunday night destination. The schedule is as follows:

VENGEANCE, OLDBOY (both directed by Park Chan-wook), SAMARITAN GIRL (aka SAMARIA and directed by Ki-duk Kim) and A SNAKE OF JUNE (aka ROKUGATSU NO HEBI, directed by Shinya Tsukamoto) in the future. Kind of makes Canadian viewers wish the CBC would do something like this.
