It’s time once again for Tartan Films to grace us with more horror with two upcoming releases, one of which is under their Asia Exteme line. First out of the gate is French horror flick SHEITAN, which busts out onto DVD December 26th.
Directed by Kim Chapiron, the story centres on a group of young guys who meet two gorgeous girls, who invite them to spend the weekend in the country where they meet Joseph (played by Vincent Cassel), a creepy, unkempt man whose pregnant wife remains hidden in a large house.
That evening, what begins innocently as Christmas dinner turns into disturbing conversations about sex, satanic possession, and incest. Joseph’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic and the young friends realize their host has made a pact with the devil and all hell is about to break loose.
The other release announced is the award winning PERTH, which hits DVD January 16th. Directed by Djinn, the film tells the story of Harry Lee, a 51-year-old part-time security guard and taxi driver. Harry wants nothing to do with the fast-paced, status-driven Singapore society that has left him behind, so he sets off for his idea of paradise: the Western Australian city of Perth.
His attempt to migrate is complicated when he takes on a job ferrying prostitutes. The situation becomes increasingly volatile when he takes an unhealthy interest in one Vietnamese prostitute, which awakens within him a dark and dangerous attempt at personal redemption.
As is the norm it now seems with Tartan’s releases, extras haven’t been revealed for the two films, so keep it here for when we get them. As for specs, SHEITAN will sport both a DTS and Dolby 5.1 track in French, with English and Spanish subtitles. PERTH will include both a Dolby Digital 5.1 and a DTS 5.1 track featuring: English, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hokkien and Malay with subtitles in English and Spanish.
