Oh hell yeah! I’ve got some news today that my fellow Creeper fans are just going to eat up! Fango is reporting that entry number three in the JEEPERS CREEPERS series (which I last wrote about here) has officially begun preproduction at MGM. But that’s not all! We’ve also got an assload of cool plot details to feast (our eyes) upon directly from writer/director Victor Salva as well as the flick’s brand new title: JEEPERS CREEPERS III: CATHEDRAL. Let’s get to it:
First of all, we’re told that the film’s opening will “include a prologue in the Old West where we see how the Creeper became a frightening part of cowboy and Native American folklore.” Nice! Perhaps we’ll see how old Mr. Creeper got his cowboy-esque hat! Now, let’s move on.
After the opening flashback, CREEPERS III picks up exactly where part II ended. I find that a fantastic idea and the most perfect (and easiest) way to continue the series. Observe some more of Salva’s plot points:
“I will say,” Salva reveals, “that one aspect of the third film features Trish Jenner (again played by Gina Philips, below, from part I), who, 23 years later, has a teenage son of her own, named Darry after her long lost brother. Trish is having a terrible recurring dream where her son meets the same terrible fate as her brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, Trish is determined to stop the Creeper once and for all.”
How f*cking awesome does that sound?! Apparently, Salva seems to be as pumped for part III as the rest of the fans are and is already promising a lot of surprises. He even said that “JEEPERS CREEPERS III is the biggest film of the three.” And finally, the icing on the cake: “BEATNGU”, the Creeper’s ass-kicker of a truck, will be appearing in part III as well! Jeepers!
