This could be nothing more than the studio wanting a few weeks of extra time, or waiting to see what horror flicks do better this October- those closer to Halloween, or those further away- but it could mean something drastically different.
A few days back actor R. Lee Ermey told ComingSoon! that the THE ORIGIN’s script was really
bad, and he only agreed to do the movie after he was
given permission to rewrite his lines. Scary, huh? Movies that start out bad have been known to stay that way from beginning to end- remember the clusterf*ck of badness surrounding the making of CURSED? Yeah. ‘Nuff said on that.
But maybe I’m being too harsh. Setting an ambiguous release date allows the studio freedom to put extra time into the script, and deliver something that’s actually good, instead of some p.o.s. sharing a famous name to get people into the theater. One good thing on this matter: At least we know that Ermey’s got our back on the quality factor.
Look for TCM: THE ORIGIN hitting theaters next October….
