Temuera Morrison to play Boba Fett in The Mandalorian

Fett is back, baby! According to THR, the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett is slated to appear in the second season of The Mandalorian, and he'll be played by none other than Temuera Morrison (AQUAMAN), who played Jango Fett, as well as the Clone Troopers, in ATTACK OF THE CLONES and REVENGE OF THE SITH. Morrison also re-recorded the lines of Boba Fett in the 2004 DVD release of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, replacing the voice of Jason Wingreen. This news is somewhat expected, as the character was teased in the season one episode "The Gunslinger," when a mysterious figure was spotted approaching the body of Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).

Before you start getting overly excited for Boba Fett to play a major role in the season, THR says that his role is expected to be somewhat small, but I would imagine that it will merely be planting the seeds for something bigger in the third season. The last we saw of Boba Fett chronologically was his rather pitiful death at the hands (tentacles?) of the Sarlacc in RETURN OF THE JEDI, but with his return in The Mandalorian, it would seem that rumours of Fett's demise have been greatly exaggerated. Of course, THR also notes that due to Boba Fett's status as a clone could make it possible that "something sneaky involving cloning" is going on. In addition to Fett, the second season of The Mandalorian will also include Michael Biehn (THE TERMINATOR) as "a bounty hunter from The Mando's past," and major rumours have also pointed to Rosario Dawson (Daredevil) playing Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker who turned into a spymaster for the Rebel Alliance.

The second season of The Mandalorian is expected to debut on Disney+ in October 2020.
