Is that one intense friggin’ picture up top or what? Yup, it’s another heart-stopping tease from the forthcoming monster sequel THE DESCENT: PART 2, the unnecessary, but dammit I’m still seeing it anyway sequel to 2005’s THE DESCENT. I honestly can’t possibly fathom how anything could make someone want to return to that cavernous hell hole, but hopefully we’ll all be too scared in our seats to think about it.
The plot reads easily like this: Emerging from the cave system alone, distraught and covered in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah is incoherent and half-wild with fear. Skeptical about her account of events and convinced Sarah’s psychosis hides far darker secrets, Sheriff Vaines doesn’t waste time. Along with his partner Rios, and their cave rescue team Dan, Greg, and Cath, Vaines forces Sarah back into the caves to help the rescuers find her friends.
As long as the acting and direction is as tight here as it was back in 2005, I could definitely see a good time in store. Though Neil Marshall is not on board as director or writer this time, I’m sure that new helmer, Jon Harris, and scripter, James Watkins, are looking to do him and his countless fans justice. I mean, if they weren’t, think how deep in the shit they’d be. Probably about as deep as that damn cave in THE DESCENT.
So, if you live in the UK, prepare to go cave-diving again on December 4th. For us U.S. folk, we still have to wait for our release.
