Tension over Scanners?

Late last week it came to our attention that Lions Gate Films had plans on remaking David Cronenberg’s SCANNERS in the near future. At that time, there was no word yet on who would be helming the remake… until now.



Bloody Disgusting got word yesterday from an anonymous source that Alejandra Aja, director of the masterpiece HIGH TENSION, is in talks of taking on the roll of director. Although not officially signed on for the deal, it would make perfect sense for Lions Gate- making sure the SCANNERS remake does the original justice.



Seeing as HIGH TENSION, undoubtedly one of the best horror movies in recent memory, was visually and scriptually brilliant, having Aja at the helm makes me excited and actually looking forward to seeing SCANNERS remade.



HIGH TENSION hits theaters this June in all it’s NC-17 glory, and we’ll keep you posted on the official details of Lions Gate’s new SCANNERS as it becomes available.
