According to The Financial Times, it loooks like Halcyon decided to not go bankrupt, putting the rights to the TERMINATOR franchise up for auction. The rights include all future movies, spin-offs, and TV series’, but does not include the rights to the previous TERMINATOR films.
Most franchises like this are owned by major studios, making the TERMINATOR franchise so unique, but that may end up changing after the auction takes place. Sony Pictures and Summit Entertainment have both expressed interest in the acquiring the franchise, as are a few other non-studio companies.
