Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel: Sally Hardesty is played by Olwen Fouere

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

None of the sequels to Tobe Hooper's classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (watch it HERE)  ever brought Marilyn Burns back as heroine Sally Hardesty, at least not in a major role. That made sense to me, because why would Sally ever put herself in the position to cross paths with Leatherface again? We did get updates on the character in the second and third films, and they weren't positive ones. Then Burns made a quick cameo in the fourth movie as a character who may or may not have been Sally.

Now there's a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre coming our way from director David Blue Garcia and producer Fede Alvarez, and if you look on this film's IMDb page you'll currently see Sally Hardesty listed on there twice – the page claims that Olwen Fouéré and Alice Krige are both playing the character. It can't be both of them, and our friends over at Bloody Disgusting have been able to confirm that Sally Hardesty is indeed in the new movie, and she's played by Olwen Fouéré.

Fouéré confirmed her involvement with the movie (without naming her character) on Twitter a couple days ago. Her previous credits include Space Truckers, This Must Be the Place, Mandy, and Sea Fever.

Sadly, Marilyn Burns passed away in 2014.

Scripted by Chris Thomas Devlin, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a direct sequel to the original film and features Leatherface as an old man. Fouéré's co-stars include Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, and Jolyon Coy. Plus Alice Krige, as someone other than Sally Hardesty?

Alvarez produced the film with Rodo Sayagues, Pat Cassidy, Ian Henkel, and Kim Henkel.
