Just yesterday, my man Eric reported here that Mr. Dwight Schrute himself, Rainn Wilson (THE OFFICE) would be making an appearance in next summer’s major box office gamble TRANSFORMERS 2 (and if you didn’t catch the sarcasm in those last couple of words, you must be as clueless as Michael Bay). Anyways, I’m stoked to see the Schrute-meister joining up with Optimus Prime and company. The quick answer why: I think he’s funny (told ya it was quick).
Now with the announcement of Wilson comes word of several actors returning for the sequel. It looks like Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro will all be back in overblown action. They will be joining up with already-announced thespians Isabel Lucas (below) and Indian Jones’ son.
I’m glad that so many familiar faces will be around for this second coming (as long as it is all under believable circumstances and since this is coming from Bay, that might be a problem). Usually when you get enough of the ingredients that made the initial flick magic to come back, the magic has a good shot at carrying over to the sequel. So I’m happy to report that original scripters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will be back with the addition of Ehren Kruger.
TRANSFORMERS 2 (I guess we can’t call it T2) already began filming in Los Angeles in recent weeks and is moving to Pennsylvania on June 2nd and then overseas. It’s set to release June 26th 2009.
