The Batman: Part II welcomes Game of Thrones and Last Action Hero star Charles Dance to the DC Studios sequel

It’s taken years of hard work, but DC StudiosThe Batman: Part II is steadily coming together. As part of a surprise announcement, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones, Last Action Hero, Frankenstein) is the latest actor to join the cast of Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated superhero sequel. Dance is currently in talks to join the project, which stars Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight. While his role remains unconfirmed, sources with more information than I’ve got say Dance would play Charles “Christopher” Dent, the abusive, alcoholic father of Harvey Dent.

Who Else Stars in The Batman: Part II?

According to reports, Sebastian Stan (A Different Man, The Apprentice, Pam & Tommy) will play Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, in the movie, while Scarlett Johansson will play Gilda Dent, Harvey’s wife. Other cast members include Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, with Barry Keoghan rumored to reprise his role as The Joker.

DC Studios says The Batman: Part II will begin production in the spring for a theatrical release on October 1, 2027. DC co-bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing, along with Dylan Clark. Reeves’ The Batman banked $772.2M worldwide during a post-COVID window.

The Two Sides of Two-Face

Dance is a fantastic fit for Charles Dent. Dance plays Tywin Lannister in HBO’s original Game of Thrones series, who’s not exactly a prize. Dance is a gifted actor who transforms into any role he accepts, and should have no problem playing well against Stan’s Harvey Dent, who, after a surprise courtroom attack, becomes the deformed, dual-personality villain Two-Face. Once Harvey becomes Two-Face, his personality is split in half, creating a war inside him that destroys his life and ties to people he loves with every act of crime and violence.

Charles Dance recently completed work on Thea Sharrock’s upcoming romantic comedy Ladies First. The film, starring Rosamund Pike, Sacha Baron Cohen, Emily Mortimer, Richard E. Grant, and Fiona Shaw, tells the story of what happens when a male chauvinist is transported to a matriarchal society and faces challenges from a formidable female version of himself.
