The Coffin’s poster

Hey, I’ve got an idea. How about you bury me in a coffin for a couple of days, so that I can have good luck once I’m finally exhumed! Sound like a practical notion? Well, regardless, it is the basic set-up for the Thai horror flick, THE COFFIN. The flick actually sounds pretty damn intriguing, as does its brand new poster up top. What is it about a bloodied female corpse lying on top of a partially opened coffin with a freaked out guy looking up at her that’s just so… creepy? I see they also had to add in the fact that this is based on a “True Thai Ritual”.

The plot goes like this: A Thai architect and a Hong Kong dietitian decide to go through the ritual of lying in a coffin to get rid of bad luck, to prolong life, and to cheat death–only to be faced with a series of strange and terrifying incidents afterwards.

That’s a pretty bad-ass synopsis. It seems to be showing shades of THE MONKEY’S PAW and FINAL DESTINATION. THE COFFIN was directed by Ekachai Uekrongtham and stars Florence Faivre, Ananda Everingham, Napakpapha Nakprasitte, Suchao Pongwilai, Andrew Lin , Micheal Pupart, and Aki Shibuya. It is apparently releasing in the U.S. on June 9th.
