We’ve been seeing casting news flowing from the upcoming action/fantasy flick THE DARK IS RISING, based on the series of novels called ‘The Dark Is Rising Sequence’ by Susan Cooper. Today we got a heads up from Fox that the cast has been fully set, and production has already started full steam ahead!
Ian McShane. Frances Conroy. Christopher Eccleston. Jonathan Jackson. Amelia Warner. Gregory Smith. Emma Lockhart. Gary Entin and Edmond Entin. John Benjamin Hickey. With a cast like this, the nothing but ‘epic’ comes to mind. Seriously, if you’re a fan of this series, get ready for the time of your life!
Directed by David L. Cunningham, and adapted for the big screen by John Hodge (he also wrote TRAINSPOTTING), THE DARK IS RISING tells the story of Will Stanton, a young man who learns he is the last of a group of warriors who have dedicated their lives to fighting the forces of the Dark. Traveling back and forth through time, Will hunts for a series of mysterious clues and encounters forces of unimaginable evil. With the Dark once again rising, the future of the world rests in Will’s hands.
From all accounts, this seems like it will be a fun ride- and the best part? It’s looking to hit theaters September 28th of this year! Wow! That’s fast! Hopefully not TOO fast, as we don’t want them to rush it, but it’s pretty awesome we’ll be able to check this badboy out sooner than later.
