The Descent meets The Treasure of the Sierra Madre in The Guardian

Mexican director Sergio Sanchez Suarez is following up his historical drama TEQUILA with something a little more up our alley – or down our cave, as it were – in the form of THE GUARDIAN. Before you ask, no, it’s not a remake of that weird William Friedkin tree movie.

Described as THE DESCENT meets THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE, THE GUARDIAN is about three reserve rangers whose friendship is torn apart after they discover hidden treasure in a cave.

The English-language thriller will carry a budget in the $2.5 million range. Shooting will go down this Autumn in the Mexican Caribbean.

Meanwhile, TEQUILA (which stars Daniela Schmidt, pictured below) opens this September in Mexico.
