They probably thought ‘hey, it worked for THE GRUDGE‘ thinking back when they brought on original JU-ON director Takashi Shimizu on for the remake, so why not try it here? Why not, indeed!
Jesse Bradford was just cast in the remake, which is about a young ex-con (Bradford) who moves into an old apartment building only to learn his neighbor is an abusive police officer who savagely beats his wife and daughter. When the ex-con tries to intervene, he becomes trapped in a curse.
Maybe it’s one of those movies you have to see in order for it to make sense, because the above synopsis doesn’t make any sense to me! Abusive father/husband, ex-con’s and curses? Ok… Well, it must have worked well enough in the original, so I’ll just go with it.
Filming is set to begin this August in Toronto, though no other casting news has been announced yet. Stick around as more news from THE ECHO remake is bound to be popping all summer long!
