The incredible sci-fi action flick EDGE OF TOMORROW was murdered by the American box office. It eventually made a fairly respectable $100 million pull after a long struggle through theaters, but it was repackaged and shipped off to stores with the inane, desperate title LIVE DIE REPEAT. It's a real shame, because it was one of the best sci-fi movies of 2014
However… Internationally, EDGE OF TOMORROW was a smash, so we're getting a freaking sequel! Score one for the other guys. The film is officially in pre-production, tapping RACE scribes Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel (who sounds more like an action movie protagonist than a screenwriter) to pen the screenplay. The duo previously worked together on the 2010 film FRANKIE & ALICE.
There is no word on if Emily Blunt or Tom Cruise will be returning, but one can only hope. More news on this story as it breaks! Also, if this film isn't called EDGE OF 2MORROW, I'll eat my hat.
