The Exorcist TV show gets a series order from Fox

While the horror community isn't brimming with excitement over the idea of getting a television series based on THE EXORCIST, Fox clearly liked what they saw in the pilot episode directed by Rupert Wyatt (RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES).

The network has put in a series order for The Exorcist, so you can expect the latest chapter in the possession franchise to be playing out on TV screens before long.

Scripted by Jeremy Slater (THE LAZARUS EFFECT), The Exorcist has the following official logline:

More than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film solidified itself as the greatest horror movie ever made, The Exorcist returns in series format as a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.

Brianne Howey stars in the series as a girl who may be possessed, with Hannah Kasulka as her wallflower sister, Geena Davis as a woman plagued by nightmares of a demon, and Ben Daniels, Alfonso Herrera, and Kurt Egyiawan as priests.

There's no word when Fox might be planning to add The Exorcist to their schedule, but I will be tuning in to check it out whenever it premieres.
