The F*cking Black Sheep – Punisher: War Zone (Video)

Having recently made honorable cases for DEEP RISING, the DEATH WISH sequels, and FREDDY'S DEAD: THE FINAL NIGHTMARE, our champion of under-appreciated sequels Lance Vlcek is here to make a case for director Lexi Alexander's 2008 take on Marvel's THE PUNISHER with PUNISHER: WAR ZONE starring Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Julie Benz, Doug Hutchison, and Wayne Knight.

PUNISHER: WAR ZONE has gathered more than its fair share of haters over the years, but Lance has a different perspective. Does he illustrate some good points and give PUNISHER: WAR ZONE a new lease on life? We'll leave that for you to find out!

PUNISHER: WAR ZONE tells the story of

Frank Castle, aka The Punisher (Ray Stevenson), turns the streets of New York City red as he wages a one man war against the crime syndicate responsible for the death of his wife and two kids. Aided by his trusted sidekick, Microchip (Wayne Knight), he almost kills Billy Russoti (Dominic West) and leaves him horribly disfigured. Billy renames himself Jigsaw and with the help of his crazed brother Loony Bin Jim, recruits criminals from every corner of the city to do battle with Frank.

Personally, I found this entry in the Punisher series to be worth little more than a good time watching some truly gory kills. I mean, I think Ray Stevenson did a bang-up job as The Punisher aka Frank Castle but overall the film just lacked too much in the story department. Trust me, I know The Punisher isn't a deep story by any means, but all the same, I think Castle needed a bit more (metaphorical) meat on his bones.

But that's just me.
