Welp, the DCEU films have been rife with spoiler reveals lately. Before the release of Shazam: Fury of the Gods, perhaps in a gesture of desperation, the Warner Bros. marketing machine showcased a cameo reveal in an official TV spot that showed Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman make an appearance. This may have been an added attempt to marry Shazam into the DC universe more definitively as it has recently been reported that Dwayne Johnson had put the kibosh on crossovers between Black Adam and Shazam characters. And in an Instagram live video, Zachary Levi would reveal more cameos that appeared in Fury of the Gods when their originally planned cameos fell through. Levi would jokingly apologize for the spoilers, but shrug it off, “Whatever. It’s all out there.”

Collider reports that, recently, Ben Affleck appeared on the Smartless podcast, hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes, to promote his new movie, Air. While in a conversation about how he finally figured out how to play the Batman character in The Flash, Affleck outright reveals a sequence which seems to be a turning point for both the character and the plot, as well as giving away a cameo appearance.

Affleck explained, “I don’t wanna give a spoiler, but it was a scene where I get caught, I get saved by Wonder Woman during a conflagration with some bad guys. And she saves me by– I mean, I’m sure the spoiler, DC assassins are gonna get me, but […] she saves me with the Lasso of Truth. And so what happens is that Batman divulges some of his real feelings about his life and his work… I was like, ‘Wait a minute, I got it!'”

Perhaps DC is taking less precaution with spoilers since the universe is about to be rebooted anyway. However, it’s quite clear they are not being as tight-lipped as Marvel with their spoilers, where the actors have been forbidden to give any kind of detail that may lead to a spoiler. The Flash will involve breaking timelines and crossing between universes, which is how MIchael Keaton’s Batman becomes involved. Most have predicted that this may be the way DC resets its timeline and characters with the butterfly effect undoing all the missteps taken by the studio. However, the film is also getting some positive buzz on its own merits as Tom Cruise reportedly was given an advanced screening and loved it.
