The genre at the 83rd Academy Awards: Black Swan, Wolfman, Inception & More!

I’m not sure if you all realized what happened yesterday but it’s kind of a big deal around these parts. You see the official nominations for the 83rd annual Academy Awards were announced and I’m here today to tell you which of our beloved genre projects have made the prestigious list!

No reason to sugarcoat this one, I’m going to hit you all with a list of the genre flicks and what they’re nominated for followed by a full list of the nominations. Check it:

BLACK SWAN – 5 Nominations – Best Picture, Best Actress (Natalie Portman), Best Director (Darren Aronofsky), Best Cinemotograhpy, Best Editing

INCEPTION – 8 Nominations – Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay (Christopher Nolan), Best Art Direction, Best Cinemotograhpy, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects

ALICE IN WONDERLAND – 3 Nominations – Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Visual Effects

THE WOLFMAN – Best Makeup

So there you have it folks! Obviously BLACK SWAN and INCEPTION will be at this year’s Academy Awards representin’ with a couple others thrown in. What do you think? Any snubs? A couple of the more notable ones would be Christopher Nolan as Best Director for INCEPTION and Mila Kunis (below) as Best Supporting Actress for BLACK SWAN.

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards kicks off on Sunday February 27 at 5 PM PST/ 8 PM EST. While we wait for that shite to hit be sure to nominate your favorites for this year’s Golden Schmoes! And at that I’ll leave you all with a full list of this year’s nominees.
