The Heathers anthology series has cast its leads

Now is the October of our discontent. The only wide release horror movie we're getting is a sequel to OUIJA (It looks good, but that's beside the point. The big release Halloween weekend is f**king INFERNO with Tom Hanks! This is an outrage!) And now TV Land is moving forward with their cockamamie idea to make HEATHERS into an anthology series, casting its two leads. Because every show needs to be an anthology now.

I have no qualms with the casting itself, featuring newcomer James Scully as Christian Slater's J.D. and Under the Dome's Grace Victoria Cox as Winona Ryder's Veronica, but come on. How many more stories does Heathers have in it? What could possibly be extrapolated from an exquisitely specific dark comedy that already has a fantastic musical adaptation to hang on its mantel?

I'm willing to give any series a shot, especially after Fox's The Exorcist turned out to be kind of decent, but this one definitely makes me nervous.

Reimagined as an anthology, Heathers will be set in the present day, as our heroine deals with a very different but equally vicious group of Heathers.

The pilot will shoot this Fall under the direction of Leslye Headland.
