Yep, we’ve got your never-ending casting news for THE HUNGER GAMES right here, folks! The latest to join the highly-anticipated action fantasy is Paula Malcomson, who will play the role of Katniss Everdeen’s mother.
According to The Hollywood Reporter,
Katniss and Prim’s mother is grieving after her husband’s death, living in fear that her daughters will participate in the deadly Hunger Games.
Malcomson is recognizable to fans of the “Battlestar Galactica” prequel “Caprica” as Amanda Greystone, though I personally will always think of her as Trixie, the foul-mouthed hooker with a heart of gold, in HBO’s “Deadwood” (pictured below). She’s also appeared in “Sons of Anarchy”, “Fringe” and “The Event”.
Malcomson joins an ever-growing list of actors that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Willow Shields, Jack Quaid, Dayo Okeniyi and Amandla Stenberg (and potentially Elizabeth Banks). It’s scheduled to begin filming in North Carolina shortly, and has a MARCH 23, 2012 release date set.
