The Lincoln Lawyer: Neve Campbell joins Netflix series adaptation

Neve Campbell is heading back to TV! Campbell will co-star opposite Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in The Lincoln Lawyer at Netflix. The drama series is based on the Michael Connelly bestselling novels which were previously adapted for the big screen in 2011 starring Matthew McConaughey.

Per Netflix, Campbell is set to play Maggie McPherson, a passionate Deputy District Attorney who was previously married to Mickey Haller (Garcia-Rulfo). The 10-episode first season of the show is based on the second book in "The Lincoln Lawyer" series, "The Brass Verdict. The television adaptation comes from prolific TV creator David E. Kelley and A+E Studios.

The Lincoln Lawyer began its life at CBS but it was announced in May of last year that the series would not be moving forward at the network. The news that the series was not moving forward was pretty shocking at the time because working with David E. Kelley is a big get for any network and the project had a massive series production commitment. A solid reason wasn't given for the pass but some suspect it had to do with the COVID-19 pandemic and determining when the series would actually start production. Neve Campbell was actually attached to the series when it was developed at CBS and has been in negotiations with Netflix for months to continue with the show. The series is also looking to recast the female lead of the show, Lorna, Mickey's second ex-wife, and constant confidante.

David E. Kelley will write and executive produce the series while Ted Humphrey is on board as showrunner. The show will revolve around Mickey Haller (Garcia-Rulfo), an iconoclastic idealist, who runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town car, as he takes on cases big and small across the city of Los Angeles.
