The Little Mermaid tale gets dark & twisted in Mermaid’s Song horror trailer

While Disney is busy making plans for their live-action re-telling of Hans Christian Anderson’s THE LITTLE MERMAID, Wild Eye Releasing is gearing up to unleash their own take on the classic fairytale, that might give fans a few good reasons to stay out of the water. Directed by Nicholas Humphries (THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY, PROJECT ITHACA), MERMAID'S SONG is set during the 1930s Depression and tells the cautionary tale of young Charlotte, who is struggling to keep the family business afloat. When gangster Randall (played by GAME OF THRONES and INHUMANS alum Iwan Rheon) offers to pay off the family debt he demands some illegal changes to the business. But Charlotte, like her mother before her, is a mermaid capable of controlling humans with nothing but her voice, which creates a battle between all of those who want Charlotte’s magical powers for themselves.

Written by Jessica Bojin, Bob Woolsey, Lendsey Mann, and co-written by Meagan Hotz, MERMAID'S SONG was originally titled CHARLOTTE'S SONG, until the powers that be decided to swim in another direction. The upcoming horror film stars Iwan Rheon, Katelyn Mager (PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS), Brendan Taylor (SUPERNATURAL, FARGO), Jessie Fraser (VAN HELSING, ZOO), and Steve Bradley (WHITE RAVEN, SHE WHO MUST BURN), among others.
