The Mandalorian adds Werner Herzog, Giancarlo Esposito, Nick Nolte & more

The Mandalorian, the first of Disney's planned live-action STAR WARS TV shows, has been in production for several months, but it's only been somewhat recently that they've officially been revealing just who will be starring in the damn thing. Last month it was revealed that Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) had been cast in the title role, and now Disney has officially announced the rest of the cast, which includes a few surprises as well as confirmations of several casting rumours over the past several months.

Joining Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian will be Gina Carano (DEADPOOL), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (PREDATOR), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Werner Herzog (JACK REACHER), and Nick Nolte (TROPIC THUNDER). Quite the interesting bunch, I'm excited. "We’re having a great time working with this incredibly talented group and excited for everyone to see what we’re up to," said Executive Producer Jon Favreau. In addition to serving as EP, Favreau has also penned the series, which is set "after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic." Joining Favreau behind-the-scenes are Dave Filoni (Star Wars Rebels), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (DOPE), Bryce Dallas Howard (SOLEMATES), and Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK), who will be directing episodes of The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian will launch on Disney+, their upcoming streaming service, late next year.
