Lucasfilm has announced that Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu will soon be making the jump from theatres to home entertainment. The latest adventure featuring Din Djarin and Grogu arrives on digital platforms on July 21, followed by 4K UHD and Blu-ray on August 25, complete with hours of bonus content for Star Wars fans.
The home release will be available digitally through platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango, while collectors will also have the option of limited-edition physical releases. In addition to the standard 4K UHD and Blu-ray editions, Disney is offering a collectible SteelBook and a Beskar Collector’s Edition (U.S. only), which includes premium packaging and exclusive metal posters.
The digital and physical releases include several behind-the-scenes featurettes exploring the making of the film, from practical creature effects and miniatures to production design and visual effects, as well as a full-length audio commentary from Favreau.
Following multiple seasons of The Mandalorian on Disney+, the series’ first theatrical adventure follows Din Djarin and Grogu as they embark on their biggest mission yet, venturing to new worlds, encountering fresh allies and dangerous enemies, and participating in plenty of familiar Star Wars action.
The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.
The film introduces a new character played by Sigourney Weaver, while Jeremy Allen White and Martin Scorsese lend their voices to characters in the story. Jon Favreau directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor.
