The Moth Diaries trailer and clip promises some girl on girl vampire action

Mary Harron, director of AMERICAN PSYCHO, has already proven that she knows her way around horror and sex. Her latest film, THE MOTH DIARIES, looks to combine both in an interesting twist on the vampire myth.

Here’s the story: At an all-girls boarding school, Rebecca (Sarah Bolger) is suspicious of Ernessa (Lily Cole), a beautiful new arrival forming a mysteriously close bond with her beloved best friend Lucie (Sarah Gadon). But is Rebecca just jealous of Ernessa’s bond with Lucie, or does the new girl possess a darker, sinister secret?

The trailer throws the word vampire out there but the tone still makes it seem as if it could be a psychological thriller instead of an all out supernatural tale. Either way, the setting is very moody, gothic, and seemingly well acted.

As a bonus, here is a clip of Rebecca and Lucie having a tender moment. The fact that one of them is naked in a bathtub just adds to the potential sapphic angle of this movie.

THE MOTH DIARIES opens April 20th.
